Taj Mahal — A Symbol of Love

Situated on the banks of the Yamuna River in Agra, the Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Construction began in 1632 and took approximately 22 years to complete.

An Architectural Marvel

The Taj Mahal is made of white marble and features a beautiful blend of Persian, Islamic, and Indian architecture. The inlay work and calligraphy on its walls are extraordinary.

  • Over 20,000 artisans worked on its construction
  • 28 types of precious stones were used
  • Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983

"The Taj Mahal is a poem of love written in stone."

Every year, millions of tourists visit this magnificent monument. The Taj changes colour at sunrise and sunset — a truly mesmerizing sight.
